The Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Cranes lost to the Clarkston Everest Collegiate Mountaineers 68-41 in the opening round of the CHSL Tournament Monday night. Cranbrook moves to 6-6 on the season, while Everest Collegiate moves to 12-1 for the year.

Senior Cam Garner had 1o points to lead the Cranes in the loss. Senior Michael McGrath had 19 points to lead the scoring for the Mountaineers.

The game was set at quick pace early, with senior Miles Pistner adding to the scoring with 3-point shooting. Everest Collegiate found points beyond the arc as well from senior Jack Lasceski and junior Joey Thibodeaux as the Mountaineers led in the match.

Cranbrook trailed 36-19 at the half.

The second half saw the Cranes pushed forward as sophomore John Kersh scored a three-point play and junior Brandon McCaskill added solid free throw shooting. Seniors Dhilan Nagaraju and Graeme Gump also added key baskets as the Cranes sought to stay in the game.

But the Mountaineers proved too much behind baskets from sophomore Luke Walker, junior Lucas Cross, and junior Johnny Nedwick. The Cranes continued to trail as time ran out.

Cranbrook now prepares to march to the MHSAA Tournament where they will square off in Division 2, Bracket 61 on March 25th.
