Make no mistake about it, Swartz Creek 2016 WR/OLB/LS Brett Pero is a very coveted prospect and Ferris State got their wish with his commitment on Wednesday afternoon. Pero already held 3 GLIAC offers including top ranked Ferris State in D2 and NAIA program, Davenport.

At 6'5" and 195 lbs, there was something that Division 1's didn't like about Pero to offer but Ferris State has to be thrilled to have Pero along with; Trevor Tank, James Cooper, Lawrence Gordon, and Tyler Shreve be committed this early in the recruiting process. The 5 commits is extremely rare for October, let alone November and the 5 commits is greater than Eastern Michigan's current, 4 in-state commits.

We caught up with Pero whose Swartz Creek team unfortunately didn't make the playoffs his Senior season with a 4-5 record to gather his thoughts on his commitment. "I ended up choosing Ferris because it seemed to fit all my of my needs and wants as far as future goals go, From academics to their football program, everything just seems to be at a higher level." said Pero on his reasoning for committing.

Pero also added, "Another reason being is simply the staff. Virtually every coach I've come in contact with at Ferris has seemed incredibly inviting and helpful."

Brett Pero expanded on one coach who really stood out to him, "Sparky McEwen, Ferris' WR coach, seems to be a really down to earth guy. The type of guy that you can sit down and talk to, along with being the guy that will push you to be the best player your potential allows you to be."

"At the end of the day. Ferris just seems to be a really solid fit for me."

- Reaction: Ferris State adds another big play receiver, James Cooper out of Oakridge is the #1 West Michigan WR outside of the Division 1 offered players. Pero is also in discussion for top receivers in the state. He can catch and will develop well as a blocker in Ferris State's rushing offense.
