Salem Hires Reed as New Head Football (Story)

Salem High School has named Justin “JJ” Reed the new head football coach of the Rocks.

Coach Reed has an extensive football coaching career as a longtime assistant coach. A native of Jenison, Reed has coached at Royal Oak, Warren De La Salle, and Sterling Heights Stevenson.

At Royal Oak, Reed served as the head junior varsity coach in 2011 and the varsity defensive coordinator in 2012-13. At Warren De La Salle, Reed served as the varsity linebackers coach in 2014-15 and was a part of their state championship season in 2014. At Sterling Heights Stevenson, Reed served as the defensive coordinator in 2016-17.

“I am excited to get started with the players, families, and Salem community. I look forward to getting to work and continuing to build on the solid football tradition,” Reed said.

Reed graduated from Grand Valley State University with a bachelor of science degree in secondary education and from Ohio University with a masters degree in athletic administration. He has held multiple physical education positions in Oakland and Macomb counties.

Reed and wife, Laura, reside in Royal Oak.

2 Years at Royal Oak he gave up 748 points 41.6 ppg
After leaving RO team gave up 252 points 28 ppg the year after. The year before he coached at Utica Stevenson they gave up 127 points 12.1 ppg in 2015. In 2016 as coach he gave up 287 points 31.9 ppg which is more than Utica Stevenson gave up total in 2014 + 2015 (243 points).

Why did he get fired. From Stevenson week 3 then get a head coaching. Job ......
