Round 2 Overview: All of the favorites won, 6 of the 8 were comfortable margin wins by teams.

Upsets: None.

What to look forward to in Round 3:

Menominee avenged rare a loss vs. Kingsford this week, which we assumed they would as the Maroons are one of the best programs in the state. Reed City and Clare was expected to be a tight game but Reed City was a lock in the 2nd half - shutting down an explosive Clare offense to nothing, but 7 total points. This game is at 6pm on Saturday and both teams run a wing-variant offense so that's always an intriguing story line.

Oakridge and Swan Valley both swept their district final game comfortably. This regional game with Muskegon and Saginaw area teams should be nice as both teams loved to play smashmouth football.

West Catholic and Portland each shutout high-powered offenses last week which we still cannot soak in and believe that happened. These teams have had a nice mini-rivalry in recent years as Portland is the reason why West Catholic hasn't won 5 straight Division 5 titles. Since Portland's D5 win in 2012, West Catholic has beaten Portland twice in the playoffs.

Frankenmuth had some challenges with Marine City, but the Eagles closed out the game strong as they awaited to see who would win the Saturday game of Ida at Algonac. Algonac held on to win 24-16 and will now have a near 2-hour trip to Frankenmuth on Saturday in what should be a great game.
