Overview: The State's top division has 6 teams in the top 10 in the state of Michigan and is the most competitive top to bottom.

Round 1 summary: Round 1 had nothing surprising occur. The top teams took care of business vs. formidable opponents.

Upsets: There was one upset as #17 Canton beat #16 Saline. It's tough to really call it an upset, but it was the one.

What to look forward to in Round 2: Well D1's mantra is win and live another week. It wasn't easy to begin with but Round 2 will have some insane games on tap: #8 West Bloomfield travels to #6 Waterford Mott, #11 Rochester Adams travels to #4 Eisenhower (at Utica High), #17 Canton travels to #5 Belleville.

#21 West Ottawa hosts Rockford in a rematch that WO won 35-30 in week 6. Lakeland's offense exploded this past week vs. Walled Lake Central they'll host #19 Detroit Catholic Central who hasn't lost in districts since 2008.

#30 Davison hosts #15 Clarkston on Saturday in a district title rematch that Clarkston beat Davison 31-14 in 2016.

#10 Chippewa Valley hosts #40 Dakota in arguably the state's most heated rivalry. The Big Reds and Cougars have exchanged wins the past 4 years. 2013 was the last season that one of the teams, Dakota beat the Big Reds consecutively. With that being said, history points to Dakota getting revenge on Friday, but you can't win this particular game on paper.

#3 Cass Tech will take the show on the road to #36 Fordson on Friday night. The Tractors are looking to end a streak of 6 losses to Cass Tech dating back to 2009 in the playoffs.
