The 2017 MHSAA playoffs have been complete madness, every round there has been unfavorable weathers conditions for the teams but it only served as a platform for the best two teams to arise in each division.

For the West Bloomfield Lakers it has been a season the players will never forget. With two losses to open the year vs. Walled Lake Western and then to their neighboring rivals, Bloomfield Hills. In week 4 West Bloomfield used a dominating 37-15 win over the visiting Clarkston Wolves to break .500 and used the momentum to get rolling into a 11-game winning streak.

With BGSU bound QB Bryce Veasley climbing up to one of the top statistical QB's in the state with over 3,400 passing yards and 28 touchdown passes + 10 rushing touchdowns, the Lakers offense has been spectacular during their 11-game winning streak.

West Bloomfield finished the season as the #8 ranked team in the state and along the way took out; #6 ranked Waterford Mott, #4 Eisenhower, and #3 Cass Tech. Mott and Eisenhower were road games.

This week The D Zone will highlight more key West Bloomfield players leading up to the game.

For the Clarkston Wolves they lost as stated above by West Bloomfield earlier this year and then lost a close 7 point loss to the #11 ranked team in the state Rochester Adams. Clarkston has literally seen it all this post-season from a rain soaked opening win over Grand Blanc, a wet and destroyed grass field at Davison, 3 touchdown comeback on the road at #21 West Ottawa, and a defeat of #19 ranked Detroit Catholic Central in you guessed it, rain.

The Wolves have relied heavily upon senior RB Josh Cantu who is having an incredible season running the ball in a perfectly sync'd offense. The Wolves defense has been pretty impressive as well.

This week The D Zone will highlight more key Clarkston players leading up to the game.

Winning the Division 1 State Championship is the biggest accolade a school can receive in football so it's time to see who will claim it in 2017!
